Worship

The Lord has been so good to us this term - He has given us wisdom and insight, discernment regarding certain issues and He has been so FAITHFUL in answering our prayers.....indeed He has done great things for us and we trust in Him to continue doing great things for us in the future....together with David we want to say "we put our trust in You..."
Praise the Lord !!

Culture shock time

Here are some of the stages of Culture shock that most of our students go through when they come to South Africa - you guys can make up your own minds as to what stage each picture represents........

Pater

Every Tuesday we have intercession at the school and on one occassion we spent some time just sitting with our Heavenly Father and being in His presence and allowing Him to love, encourage and heal us....it was a special time for the students.....

First date

Livia from Level 4 was definitely impressed with the owl's attention......maybe he asked her on a date....!?

Extra classes

Hyeong Jun is from Korea and in Level 1 - i think he was trying to teach this little fellow some Korean, or maybe the owl was trying to teach Hyeong Jun some English......!?

Run Cheetah run !

We saw some lovely animals at Spier - they have this Cheetah sanctuary there as well as other cats and animals - really worth the while - i think some of our students wanted to run with the Cheetahs.....some of them actually went into the camps and touched a Cheetah and said the experience was amazing.....

Spier

We had lunch on Spier Estate, just outside of Stellenbosch - it is a lovely venue and a good place to just rest and relax...Emily and Mari-Lize with Tae Won, Israel and Hyeong Jun...

Out of the Zone

We had an outing to Stellenbosch, Spier Estate and a Cheetah park.....all in one day !! We hired a bus from the De La Bat school for the Deaf and it was quite a lively drive, as the rule of the day was ENGLISH ONLY !!

Cheese bread

Livia is one of our Brazilian students in Level 4 - a lovely servant with a generous heart and a desire to serve God - she has grown so much and has really crept deep into the hearts of the teachers here at the school - we love you Livia !!!

"In the beginning He was an Indian and became Jesus and now he is a Budda. As a monkey is a very nice man, even when he wants to socialize with the Baboons in the mountain, we need to say: Luciano come down, you will not be cut off from us.

Luciano is a real gentleman and kind person, very polite. He gives advice and teaches without words. I have seen hard moments in his life and family. However he always stands and goes before God. He fights furiously only when he sees injustice. He has a pure and generous heart, very creative and a server. He always puts his neighbor first. I have seen Luciano as a father, husband, a son, a friend and in all I see God in his life."

Danke ?!

Irina is our only German student and she also faced many challenges - being the only European and struggling with some culture shock and stuff, but the way she has come through and grown has been amazing - this is her oral, enjoy it !!

And now I come to our energetic Egyptian girl. She has many sides that make her special. Susu is absolutely creative, funny, crazy, clever and she also has a sensitive personality. I like it when she comes up with ideas. Her eyes begin to sparkle and her whole body describes her fantasy. It is totally amazing. She always enjoys telling a good joke every day. This refreshes our class. Susu is a very lovely and helpful kind of person. She always lends her things and she is friendly. She is absolutely special.

And that’s not all! Now is the turn for the topping. I would never forget to describe Bri. She is truly an amazing person and I am so glad because she is our teacher. Bri is a very sensitive, energetic, faithful, popular, fantastic, sociable, polite…person (rare). She always encourages pupils and she gives her love to them. Also here lessons are very creative. She has never run out of strange ideas. Really wonderful! Thanks.

SJP

Soo Jin Park is one of our lovely Level 4 students who will join us on staff for the next term. She is just a beautiful and gentle person and her oral about her classmates and her teacher is excellent. Enjoy it !!

Eun-Sook, the joy of level 4 is small and slim, so I couldn’t even imagine that she is a mother of 3 children until I saw her children in her house. At first, I thought she was a stereotypical pastor’s wife. I mean, I expected her to be calm and modest like other pastor’s wives. But she enjoys making witty jokes and always comes up with funny ideas.

I like here because she is always thoughtful and loves serving people even though she is tired from child care.

Irina, one of our “Charlie’s angels” members, is tall and slim. She has a very attractive appearance just like a Hollywood actress. She has enchanting blue eyes and smile with wavy blond hair. She loves children and children also love her and cling to her. She always considers other people’s feelings and conditions next to her. Because that makes her exhausted, she sometimes needs time to be alone and to recharge. I like her because she is a friendly and reliable friend.

Ultimately I want to introduce Bri. She is not my classmate but my teacher. Nevertheless, I can’t talk about level 4 without Bri because she is an absolutely essential part of our class. I saw Bri’s various hairstyles in ELS photos, but I think this short hair goes very well with her lovely but slightly naughty face. She is not shaken by trivial things easily because he trusts God and depends on God. I love her because she loves her people consistently from her heart.

Korean pancakes

Eun Sook is another Level 4 student who is just a lovely student to have around - she is a mother of 3 with a baby boy to look after, but the way she has adapted and become part of the school has been amazing - oh and she loves to shake her body hallelujah !!! Here is her oral about her classmate and her teacher.....

She is our actress and a delicious Brazilian bread cooker. She is Livia. She has a lot of healthy hair, and deep sparkling eyes and a handsome boy friend. She is funny and strong but sometimes she is sensitive and serious. I like that, because it is similar to me so I can understand why she does things. I think she can help other people to be happy. If some people need laughter, she can make them laugh. I some people need to be consoled, she can help them. She will be an absolutely good missionary and wife.

Finally, our absolutely fantastic spectacular gorgeous teacher, Bri is my mother of South Africa. She has a bright smile and energetic voice. I am very glad to meet her because she is definitely an excellent teacher. Although she has taught for many years, she doesn’t want to stop studying English to teach. I respect her so much. I want to be like Bri.

Pyramids

The Level 4's had to write orals about their classmates and Susu, our only Egyptian student, wrote this lovely piece about one of her Korean classmates - Susu has grown so much over the last 3 months - she faced a lot of challenges in the beginning, being the only student from Egypt and her culture so different from South African culture, the language barrier and a few other difficulties as well - the way she has come through and has dealt with all the above has been so encouraging - she is a real gem !!

"Soon Rye is my amazing, precious, special Korean friend. She is humble but fearless, she is sensitive but strong. She is a supportive person to the people around her and she is always sensitive to their needs. Soon Rye, you have your own way to be special even if you don’t see that. You are a real invaluable diamond that is seldom to be found, I’m a really lucky person to know you. Ha!ha!ha!"

Projects

Level 2 had to do their projects and it was amazing - their projects was about countries and one of them was Singapore....they really did a great job.....well done level 2's !!

A century

We were very fortunate to meet the oldest lady at the old age home - she is a whopping 99 years old....and her mind and memory is amazing.....it was wonderful to meet her.....we only spent a few minutes there, but it will remain with us for a long time....

Love

The students really enjoyed spending time some of the people....it was amazing how well they could communicate and understand the residents.....

Special

We visited Andries Hamman old age home.....the students were divided into groups and went to speak to the people and prayed for them....they all said it was a very special experience....

50 first dates

So Young : I'm hungry, how about you ?
Jae Hyung : Yes, very hungry. But we ate all the kimchi last night....
So Young : Hmmm, we'll just have to eat rice and noodles for lunch then...
Jae Hyung : No way, McDonald's here we come !!!

Solitude !?

Maybe the heat got to Tae Won (Korea level 1).....he does have an interesting way of being......himself.....

Magic Johnson

Our 4 basketball stars, not the Chicago Bulls but they did well....Sang Jig prayed before he shot and Luciano just tried his best while Fabio and Se Hyun almost got a perfect score !!

Longer

These are our AFTER or DURING photos.....the guys really tried their best.....the song I believe i can fly comes to mind.......

Jump !!

This is a BEFORE photo....our 4 long jumpers before they actually JUMPED....take a good, long look......

Racehorse

We had a sack race on the volleyball "court"and as you can see, it was a very competitive and highly entertaining excercise.....the trick for the guys was to NOT get stuck in the volleyball net and not to fall down before finishing the race....the black bags we used didn't make it any easier either.....

Director

Fabio (Brazil level 2) was our "video man"......i'm sure he captured some funny moments.....we should just make him the official director of all future happenings....

The fantastic 4

Here are our 4 star teams.....their "war cries" were....interesting and definitely hillarious.....and competitive would be an understatement......but we had a LOT of fun and some good laughs !!!

Kimchi

When you eat too much kimchi (spicy Korean vegetable dish), your behaviour changes.......like Dong Uk (from Korea, level 3).......be afraid, be very afraid.....

FUUUUN day !!!

We had a FUN DAY some weeks ago, with the students divided into groups and having to come up with a "war cry" and some creative ways in which to present themselves......obviously, for Domingas, Dong Su and Moises the FUN got too much and they had to take a break.....
